Hebra Arquitectos tucks Lone Oak House within wooded site in Chile

Chilean studio Hebra Arquitectos has completed an elevated home with steel pilotis and a V-shaped roof, aiming to create a building that "floats in the middle of the forest". The roof is supported by reticular beams, which have a weblike composition. Concrete and black-painted steel were used for the structural system.

Indian studio Kiron Cheerla Architecture has completed Pott House, a home in Hyderabad topped by a lantern-like roof that draws light and natural ventilation into its interiors. At night, lights inside glow outwards through the roof to create a lantern-like effect. A smaller first floor occupies the southern half of the home.

The site for the project is one of the few remaining areas of second growth forest within city limits. Great care was taken when siting the structure and parking lot within the environment, preserving 90% of the spectacular woodlands. A simple shed roof is supported by trusses. Large vine maples frame the entry to the building.

The original shape of the house in the longitudinal direction does not have a clear distinction between walls and roof, being associated with the natural landscape - the outcropping of rocks near the Dnipro River.
