Few people love putting together stair drawings, but I think you’ll agree that some stairs are more fun to detail than others. Such is the case for the monumental stairwell we’ve been working on for our Oak Grove shared coworking space. The front of the building was previously a generic spec developer office building complete with ribbon windows and ground level parking deck under the building.

USGBC receives funding for LEED for Cities and Communities Program

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) received a new $500,000 grant from Bank of America to support the LEED for Cities and Communities Program. The money will be used to support LEED certification of 15 U.S. cities and communities. The grant provides financial assistance, educational resources, and technical support. USGBC and Bank of America launched the LEED for Cities and Communities grant program with six U.S. cities in 2018.

Northern California casino offers a template for resilient microgrids

Blue Lake Rancheria, in Northern California is an area vulnerable to wildfires, tsunamis, and earthquakes. Considering those risks, the tribe that owns the casino property has created its own solar-powered microgrid that can disconnect from the main grid and run off Tesla battery power.
