IKEA to build two-kilometre-long store that is "impossible to get lost in"

IKEA is working on plans for a linear store that would depart from the Swedish home-furnishings retailer's usual labyrinthine layout, Dezeen can reveal. Planned for an unconfirmed site, the proposed outlet will stretch to almost two kilometres in length to accommodate all the necessary showrooms and warehouse space. An architectural rendering obtained by Dezeen shows a long, narrow volume in IKEA's signature blue and yellow colours.

New York City passes "Get Sheds Down" legislation to reduce city's scaffolding

New York City has passed several bills aimed at reducing the nearly 400 miles of scaffolding sheds covering buildings in the city, some of which have been installed for more than five years.
