The mall of the future: Less retail, more content

BD+C

Malls are important, they’re some of the most visited places in our communities, frequented by billions of people around the world every year. To survive, however, they need to become places that are about much more than retail transactions. Honestly, malls are in decline. Hundreds of American malls shuttered after the 2007-09 recession. And retail researchers estimate 25% of America’s roughly 1,000 remaining large malls will close over the next 3 to 5 years.

Aric Gitomer Architect

Big cities indicate small and compact homes. It holds for New York, London, Tokyo, and even New Jersey. Densely-populated cities can either tend to the people or larger-than-life homes. A4 / Blog Power

A4 Architects

A4 Architecture started a blog more than 10 years ago when the concept of a web log (or “Blog” for short) was a novel and unusual thing, particularly for an architect. Back then, building owners still found their architects by looking in the “yellow pages”, which is something people under twenty years-old may not even remember seeing. In that time the world has moved online in a VERY big way and people use the computer to search, evaluate and select everything from a cup of coffee to an architec

A minimalist house with perhaps one room and another which is the study and guest bedroom when friends come to visit from far away, interns from overseas, for Sara during confinement, for me during isolation or exile during failed attempts to dominate my wife.
