Prior to its acquisition by Affiliated, this facility contained a branch bank, loan offices and back-of-house functions for a local Savings & Loan. In integrating the bank into its operation, Affiliated reduced the facility to a branch. To help maintain the street edge, the corner portion of the original limestone faced storefronts was retained.

The design intent is to replicate an outbuilding that might have accompanied the historic colonial house that occupies this site on Lake Michigan. A drive meanders up to the house from the bottom of the hill at Sheridan Road.

The plan called for up to 500,000 square feet of retail space (two/three levels) forming an outdoor plaza.
