The total number of construction starts increased by 4% in October to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $1.2 trillion, according to Dodge Construction Network’s latest Construction Starts Index. Nonresidential building starts rose 14%, nonbuilding starts grew by 2%, while residential building starts fell 3%. On a year-to-date basis through October, total construction starts were up 3% from the same period in 2023.
