Brazilian city proposes world's tallest residential tower

Planning officials in the coastal Brazilian city of Balneário Camboriú have just entered the race for the world’s tallest residential building after approving plans from an unnamed architect for the new 100-story, 1,785-foot Triumph Tower. The project, which has yet to commence or set a completion date, would surpass Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill 's 1,550-foot Central Park Tower in New York City to become the new world record holder.

This suggests to me a sensible use of precast concrete. There are other possible solutions of course, but I don't have a problem with this one. None of the ugliness of concrete post and panel (what we used to call Durawall in Zimbabwe) but none of the rot issues of the traditional wooden fence it emulates.

If you hang around Park City long enough, you will come across things with the name Ontario. There’s Ontario Avenue. There’s the Ontario hiking trail at Deer Valley. And I’m sure there are other things. As a Canadian, I couldn’t help but wonder why. So today I looked it up. And it turns out that the mining company that first put Park City on the map was the Ontario Silver Mining Company (see above stock certificate).
