The winner of this year’s AR Public Awards from The Architectural Review has been announced as the Dún Laoghaire Baths from DLR Architects Department and A2 Architects in Ireland. The project restored a spa resort originally built in 1843 with a new engineered jetty feature, including built-in seating and a walkway connecting the adjacent town of Newtownsmith to swimming areas on the Irish Sea.

Spending on nonresidential construction is projected to increase over the remainder of the year before taking a step back in 2025, according to the AIA’s updated Consensus Construction Forecast for mid-2024. The report says construction of new commercial facilities effectively will remain flat this year and next, while manufacturing construction will see increases of 14% this year before stabilizing in 2025.

French ceramicist Jacques Monneraud has created Carton, a collection of ceramics that appear to be crafted from cardboard and tape. The collection , consisting of vases, pitchers and teapots, was inspired by the disposable nature and materiality of cardboard. "I have always been very sensitive to things that time deteriorates, things that don't last," Monneraud told Dezeen of the collection, which he called "a mockery to our world of overproduction and overconsumption.

ConstructConnect’s latest Project Stress Index (PSI) reading, which measures the level of non-residential projects that have experienced a delayed bid date, being placed on hold, or being abandoned, for June 2024 is up 1.5% from May. The figure of 112.7 is up 9% from June 2023. As reported by Construction Dive , project abandonments increased by 10.7%, delayed bid activity saw no change, and work put on hold fell 6.6% over the past month.

Dutch studio OMA has completed a wide bridge across the River Garonne in Bordeaux , France, which is intended to double as a public space for the city.
