The Bruce Museum in Greenwich, Connecticut, has shared photos of its recent expansion project that was completed by EskewDumezRipple in April of 2023 at a cost of $67 million. Drawing inspiration from coastal New England granite quarries, the project added a total of 42,000 square feet via the new William L. Richter Art Wing. The expansion was undertaken to allow the museum’s art and science holdings to expand and be better interpreted as a coherent whole.

California-based Samara has opened a factory in Mexicali, Mexico, to scale up manufacturing of their backyard ADU units. As we reported in late 2022, the startup is led by Airbnb co-founder Joe Gebbia alongside former Flex chief executive Mike McNamara. Framing existing conditions as opportunities, SHED Architecture & Design created a coherent family compound on the shores of Seattle’s Lake Washington in which an old and new structure speak to one another and the surrounding landscape via a design solution informed by restraint, material relationship, and attention to detail. The primary design challenge was to inject new life into an old house suffering from deferred maintenance and additions that no longer made sense.

The Canadian War Museum (CWM) is one of the country's National museums, including both permanent and temporary galleries as well as extensive collection storage and conservation spaces. The Ismaili Centre uniquely responds to established Islamic building traditions, while incorporating contemporary architectural form, materiality, and construction methods. Several council homes on the Stirling Prize-winning Goldsmith Street in Norwich could be sold at a discount just five years after they were built, Dezeen can reveal as part of our Social Housing Revival series.
