OMA and Partner Shohei Shigematsu have shared new photos of their just-completed work on the Toranomon Hills Station Tower project for developer Mori Building Co. in Tokyo. The first high-rise to be completed inside the studio’s larger Toranomon Hills mixed-use district overlooks the terminus of Shintora-dori Avenue, whose axis is extended through a split base containing a Metro station and shopping area.

Snøhetta has shared photos revealing the construction status of their Shanghai Grand Opera House design ahead of its expected opening in 2025. What’s most noticeable is the formation of the structure’s distinctive fan-shaped roof, which frames the Opera House’s spiraling form. This visual identity is evoked throughout the project, expressed through the winding staircase, the lobby, the halls, and the three auditoriums.

3XN ’s ‘upcycled’ design for the revamped Quay Quarter Tower in Sydney, Australia, has been named the winner of the Best Tall Building Worldwide 2023 title by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) as part of the annual CTBUH International Conference that was held last week in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. The project repositioned the existing AMP Center from 1976 to a height of 46 stories using 65% of the original structure and 95% of its core.

According to Rider Levett Bucknall’s (RLB) latest crane index report , the total number of cranes on commercial projects in North American cities has decreased by 10%, or by 51 cranes, from the first quarter to the third quarter of 2023. Out of the fourteen cities surveyed, six experienced a decrease in the number of cranes by greater than 20%, two saw an increase, and six remained the same.
