Pacific Palisades fire threatens Getty Villa and other landmarks

The fast-moving Palisades Fire has reached the grounds of the Getty Villa , according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Flames were reported approaching structures late Tuesday afternoon. The museum, originally designed to replicate a Roman villa and extensively renovated by SPF:a and Machado Silvetti , includes galleries, conservation facilities, and a 500-seat amphitheater.

This project involves the renovation of, and additions to, a small guest house that is part of a larger residential compound. Originally designed by Fernau + Hartman Architects, this widely-published compound was completed in 1998 and is comprised of 22 different volumes on 13 different levels.
