We don’t normally attempt to move a project of this size and complexity along at the breakneck speed that this one demanded, but I am happy to say that we met our deadline and I am writing this post from the office as I wait for the contractor to come in and review the drawing set for scope and intent.

6:45am I had to sketch out a quick graphic image for my annual “ What to Get an Architect for Christmas ” post. A Christmas ornament seemed Christmas-y enough so I sketched it up, took a picture of it with my phone, brought it into Photoshop where I added some color, and then *BOOM* … the graphic was created.

Since a number of people don’t seem to understand this concept, I thought I would whip together some sketches to help illustrate my point. In order to reach all points on the site without damaging the trees, the contractor had to use a concrete pump truck with a giant arm on it. That’s called “doing your job.”

The same goes for tracking time, managing expenses, collaborating with contractors and viewing financial reports. I think generally as architects, we’re all visual professionals, use visuals, sketch. Communication and notifications and getting started with Freshbooks is ridiculously easy. I did exactly that. A use calendars.
