6:45am I had to sketch out a quick graphic image for my annual “ What to Get an Architect for Christmas ” post. A Christmas ornament seemed Christmas-y enough so I sketched it up, took a picture of it with my phone, brought it into Photoshop where I added some color, and then *BOOM* … the graphic was created.

Our client has a decidedly modern take on things and one of the major challenges to this project was to marry the modern additions to this existing Georgian residence.

My grandfather was an engineer as well, who taught me how to sketch and draft with a t square in his workshop, and when I saw what was possible with the Wright book, I was hooked. I have fond memories of him wearing a bow tie and cranking up the music before an important client meeting and the office sort of taking on a special energy.
