CannonDesign has created a student centre for a Michigan university "The primary concept of the building was to celebrate place, with a focus on elements and symbols that are universal to all people – and especially important to the Western community," Brett Lawrence, Cannon Design project manager, told Dezeen.
The building is topped with a large green roof that helps with onsite stormwater management. Cost of Maintaining Green Infrastructure quantifies expenses associated with operating and maintaining sustainable stormwater-management technologies.
Composed of three distinct buildings – a main house, guesthouse and writer's studio – the project was designed for a California-based couple who manage an independent record label. The property features a pine forest and stands of aspens, which transition to a rolling meadow.
