Local studio Hopson Rodstrom Design placed a sawtooth roof on top of this black-clad apartment building with an interior courtyard in southern California. Located in West Los Angeles on a busy thoroughfare, the project is called The Jagger – named after the massive sawtooth roof that tops it.

The building is organized around a repeating grid of slender quadripartite columns that frame views and support a lightweight trussed roof structure. This large overhanging roof canopy unites the four volumes and forms a perimeter verandah. The metal frame is painted in a rich golden and the roof is lined with copper.

Roughly rectangular in plan, the dwelling has cutouts, cantilevers and multiple sloped roofs that combine in a sculptural way. Desai Chia created "winged" roofs for the house.

Dig Studio and Lake Flato revamp Scottsdale Civic Plaza for "increasingly warming world"

Using a "low-maintenance material palette" Lake Flato created a stage and circular events pavilion on opposing ends of the park, giving both undulating metal roofs supported by thin columns. According to the team, the undulating roofs of the two performance structures reference the fluid movement of dance.
