The Softwood Lumber Board and the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA) have announced the winners of the 2022 Timber Education Prize. The selected courses will be taught in architecture schools across North America in the coming years and provide an excellent insight into the future of design education.
Founded in 1981 by pioneers of the design computation field (such as Bill Mitchell, Chuck Eastman, and Chris Yessios), ACADIA has created an extensive community of students, academics, and practitioners who attend the annual event.
What began in 2020 as an idea to bring together the disciplines of architecture, design, and data-driven techniques for assessing environmental challenges has now become a book and industry-focused symposium for working professionals and students. But what makes eLCAd different? Why highlight this symposium in comparison to others?
It combined local and modern architecture with a bottom-up approach capable of promoting social and environmental justice that would set the tone for his later work, which ultimately led to him winning the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2022.
