Volcanic landscape informs Hacker Architects design of Oregon lodge

Portland-based studio Hacker Architects has replaced an outdated lodge with a blackened wood -and-glass structure featuring elements informed by the volcanic landscape of Sisters, Oregon. The form and pitch of the roof match the slope of nearby Black Butte, while clerestory windows bring light into the space from all directions.

Birdseye references Vermont farmhouses with all-black cottage on Lake Champlain

The region is notable for its agrarian landscape of pastoral farms," said Birdseye , a studio based in Richmond, Vermont. The residence was completed in December of 2021 and is comprised of four gabled volumes that are oriented parallel to the shoreline and connected to one another via a long gabled walkway.
