AIA foresees nonres building spending increasing, but at a slower pace than in 2016

Despite what it describes as a “chaotic” year saddled with labor shortages and interest-rate creep, the American Institute of Architects (AIA) estimates that spending for nonresidential construction increased by nearly 8% in 2016. That growth is expected to continue for “another couple of years,” albeit somewhat more modestly.

Plans for Chicago’s historic Post Office building revealed by 601W Companies and Gensler

Since 2016, nearly 100,000 man-hours have been invested in the Old Chicago Main Post Office to prep the building and the site for its planned redevelopment. 200 construction workers from 27 construction-related firms have been on site and removed an estimated 20 million pounds of debris.
