Milan's former Expo 2015 site is being remade into a tech-centric innovation district

The former industrial site was also famously home to Milan Expo 2015 , which drew some 22 million visitors during its six-month run and has since been partially dismantled. Plans for the new district include offices and housing accommodation for up to 60,000 people run entirely on renewable energy and made from recycled materials.

These three projects will compete for the fourth edition of the RIBA International Prize

The fourth edition of the prize, which was first established in 2015, includes a juried selection taken from the slate of 22 winners of the RIBA International Awards for Excellence that was announced in June. The Grand Jury was comprised of Tosin Oshinowo , MoMA senior curator Paola Antonelli, and Lu Wenyu of Amateur Architecture Studio.

One of Helmut Jahn's final designs distinguishes itself on the Chicago skyline
