Leth & Gori transforms Danish farm into contemporary supportive housing

The studio used the existing buildings to inform the design. Materials informed by the history of the site were used throughout the interior. Karsten Gori and Uffe Leth founded their Copenhagen-based practice in 2007. The proportions of the new single-storey accommodation building reference those of an existing barn.

Design writer's diary: houses, a warehouse, a museum and an opera

The project was designed and co-developed by SUM Design Studio , a firm I first wrote about for this blog back in 2007, in a post called Design + Development + SUM. In both spots, some crisply contemporary halo-shaped chandeliers were nicely juxtaposed against and also spotlighting the scruffy materiality of the exposed-wood ceiling above.
